Hurricane Mitch Relief Effort

Local Pastor & wife; grateful recipients of housing

This young pastor and his wife lost everything they owned to Hurricane Mitch.  They're smiling again thanks to the hard work and God inspired ideas of the mission team.  The houses in the background are the type usually built in the area.  The homes are more economical and  stronger

The first ever "Hurricane Home."  These homes are larger, less expensive, more comfortable and sturdier than the present standard cinder block home with a tin roof. The foundation is set

Setting the rebar

The foundation is laid (above center) and the form is erected (above right).  At left the rebar is installed on the inside of the form before being sprayed with concrete.

Rain made early construction challenging.  The mud was so deep and slippery that equipment had to be carried 500 yds. to the building site. Slip 'n' Slide! Mud makes for challenging work.

The Construction Team The unsung heroes take a short break for a photo pose.  It's a good thing it was raining, otherwise they would be covered with mud!
